It's a very important ruling that MAY eventually pave the way for a reasonable process to obtain a concealed carry permit in Maryland. The State will file and appeal for sure and it will likley end up at the Supreme Court.

No they will just change the process in a way that makes the gun owner still unable to get a permit. It will have to go back to court again as did Mr. Heller. Nothing changed in DC. And that judge will be canned as soon as possible.

Well Maryland is about as anti-gun a state as they come. When you buy a gun and go through the background check, their form says the following.

Disapproved

Not disapproved

They can't even bring themselves to call someone approved. We'll see. I know they will fight it but for the first time they are losing ground.

I heard this news a couple days ago. Finally, some GOOD news for a change! 8-)

I think the gov't would be stupid to put the kibosh on a multi-billion-dollar-a-year industry ... especially when they continue to spend like drunken sailors, and print money like it grows on trees .... :|

It's always interesting to read the judge's opinion, especially when it is fairly simple like this one. There certainly is something bizarre about a law that limits self-defense at the very time when, by definition, "public safety authorities [will be] unable to maintain public order or afford adequate protection for lives or property."
