hey guys, in the spring we will be hosting a tour date visiting all 3 anthracite mine tours and incidentally all 3 coal fields! im posting this here to see who from this board would be interested in attending to see how often next year we will run this. if it becomes popular we will run it once a month if need be, as it is advertised on our forum, 2 others and our website. we will start the morning at the lackawanna mine tour in scranton where we will give an extended 1.5 - 2 hour tour. from there we will travel to the number 9 mine tour in lansford where another member of our group will give the tour. next we will travel to ashland to the pioneer tunnel and steam train ride, where again we will take an extended tour of the mine. the pioneer tunnel tour we will complete in the dark with no mine lights and walk in to get a different perspective on the mine. we will come out by the mine train. again, at all 3 mines the underground miners will be giving the tours. however, and hopefully this wont turn anyone away, this will be our most expensive tour as we will be needing to but tickets at all 3 mine tours and we will charge a small fee of $10 that will go to our mine equipment restoration fund. also, as to not charge any more money there will be no bus, it will be a fallow the leader ordeal. it has worked well for our last tours, but this one will be a good drive, but rest assured it is going to be an awesome day! so if you guys would be interested please respond here, and ill be giving out more information as the date gets closer.

Interesting Chris, how late in the Spring?

We have our own little get together going on in June it appears, 2008 Steam Town Meet and Greet for Forum Members

I don't know what the members think about doing it in the Spring to take advantage of your tour too because we'll be on the river. It may also pose a time problem. Of course majoruty rules and if that's what they want to do, if not maybe you'd be interested in providing a tour for them in June? We were considering doing the Lackawanna mine tour and Steamtown, a lot of them are from out of state so they will also be picking up coal which is what poses the time problem.

I do remember now mike mentioning you guys came down there to the 9 for a tour. when you do the one at lackawanna and steamtown, let me know ill set it up so banks is your guide, he is a member of our group and works there as one of their best guides.

Sounds like we have some options and planning to make for a Spring and Summer get together, nothing says we can't do both. :) We then could use our time at the river for more fun and stay put in one place, plus maybe throw in a coal mine tour for those that couldn't make Spring.

Don't have time right now but will talk with the other planners. In the mean time anyone interested in the early April mine tours make sure you weigh in here and let us know if you are interested.

Count me in as long as I have no conflicts with timing. :)

sure, its all good. it would be great if we all could get together more often. we have been doing these tours for 4 years now usually twice a year and the one request I hear all the time is that people would like more of them. its nice to talk about interests on a forum but its great to get together with friends you share common interestes with. so as I see it, the more stuff we plan the better. also, we will be doing this in april and its open to people in alot of places and I can only take 30. so, we will be doing more of these, so if it conflicts with any plans you already have, there will be more of our tours throughout next year. its a nice way for us to show the public and our friends what we do and make a few dollars for our nonprofit group so we can continue restoring old mine equipment.

Hi JC,
If there's enough time in this summers tour, I would like the gang to stop at Leisure Line.
