Sort of Spring in Springfield

Sort of Spring in Springfield

As I was sitting in my family room overlooking the swamp this morning I got to thinking - Virginia in the spring is a beautiful place to be- even if it is only mid March. The cicadas were singing their song and there are an increasing number of song birds everyday. The woodpeckers are out. I will put out my humming bird feeders within the next day or two in anticipation of their return. The flowering pears and mock cherries are absolutely gorgeous as they bring color back to the bland scenery of winter.

Alas this too will pass and many will find Virginia a good place to be from when all the pollen and spring storms truly kick in to make our lives miserable. Those are the days of pollen so deep you can write messages on the car windows in it. That’s when we have to close up the house and turn on the AC in order to fight "seasonable" allergies. But for right now, it’s time to get out and enjoy the beautiful world around us. I hope you have a great day where ever you are. Lisa

WOW - you guys are WEEKS ahead of us!! I won't see the forsythia yellow for AT LEAST 4 weeks up this way. All the daffodils are just poking thru the ground, maybe 5" high now after today's warmth.

My best bud is down there on VA Beach right now for a soccer tourney with his kids. Was chatting on the phone with him the day he was headed down. Thinking back I must've sounded like a stick-in-the-mud bitching about the weather, traffic, crowded bank, & tellers that can't read the slip I gave them .... he sounded so happy to be on the road. Most people from MA are, the farther you go south of this hellhole ...

I want to pack up and move RIGHT NOW!! Thanks for the pics, Lisa. :D
