Does this executive order signed 3/16 nationalize industry?

President Obama signed this 'Executive Order' into law on 3/16/12. Recall that Executive Orders become law without Congressional review or oversight or voting. It seems to give him the right to nationalize all industry as is deemed necessary to ensure the availability of adequate resources and production capability, including services and critical technology, for national defense requirements. Doesn't he think that industry will support our military without this Executive Order, as it has always done in the past and to date? Is there something far more insidious here, perhaps up to and including the pending imposition of martial law? Remember that Mussolini defined Fascism as the ultimate fusion of State and Industry to the benefit of the power of the State. This seems to perhaps be our version of the same?

It very well may also nationalize labor, and that means you and me. Whether we like it or not.

And section 308 part A says the Government has the authority to install "equipment" in any of the various industrial facilities owned by "private persons" (again, you and me). Whether we like it or not.

And did I mention that with regard to "food resources" it says much the same. And that means the farmers and their farms can also be nationalized to work at the behest of the State.

Certainly seems like the blocks are being put in place aren't they?

This EO has been in effect since 1939 & has been updated by just about every Pres. since to cover new agencies & developments, Carter did it once & bush did twice but only now does it become something sinister.

There are a scant few places where it references older orders, but most of it has no such references. If it has grown since 1939, then this is a major expansion of it. My question is: Why the need?

Would not our nation (industry, farmers, laborers, you name it) rally behind any defense of an invasion? Perhaps this Executive Order will become necessary if we (meaning here us common folk) suddenly tire of foreign entanglements which are not necessary to our defense?

Yes, its been done by other Presidents but why? Does that matter? And why does Obama feel the need to do this now. With Obama's repeated side stepping of the Constitution, I'm much more worried about this then I would have been at other points in history under different leaders. I also question why this isn't making the mainstream media except as an after thought. Something doesn't smell right.

Did YOU know about it in 1939? Was this what they used to imprison Japanese?

I didn't have internet during the Carter administration.

I only got by first web connection in 2001 so maybe I'm just catching up.

Does it make the EO any less dangerous knowing it has been there a while?

How many times have you heard about it being updated before? You only hear about it now because the Henny Penny Sky is Falling Right wants to scare people that don't think for themselves.

During ww2 John L Lewis was jailed for fomenting a coal miners strike and I also remember a steel exec. being carried out. Coal and steel were nationalized, but only temporarily.

It's all about in times of war or emergencies like natural or man made disasters, Jpete do you really think that people could be depended on like they were back when they were patriotic & cared more about their country than themselves? If it comes right down to it which way do you think the oil co.s would go, most of them are headquartered off shore & we now have few defense contractors or for that matter even mega farms that are owned by U.S. investors & even if they were would they sell the country out for $? They could see the possibilities back in the 30s, hope I'm wrong but I think there are a lot more now that would sell their country short than then. People don't give a hoot about our troops dying as long as it doesn't interfere with their comfy little worlds & there is someone else to fight for their rights.

Maybe people only care about war when it's ACTUALLY about their rights instead of enriching those defense contractors you were mentioning.

If I remember right Bush added the Homeland Security Dept. to the list along with some others but I don't recall if that was the first or second time he updated it. It's remarks like you just made that create the need for policies like this, Well I don't think it's going to benefit ME or infringe upon MY rights, how do you think you got those rights & who do you think fought for them? That attitude was exactly my point, if there is nothing in it for me let someone else do the dirty work. I heard somewhere that it is somewhere less than 0.03% of our population that either serves or at least tries to join & I bet you don't see any from the segment of the population that has the most to gain monetarily.

So the government has to strip our rights to protect our rights?

I don't think it's my philosophy that's the problem here....
