They take a bit of getting used too, but there not any different from any other stair, 7 3/4 inch rise, I had no choice, this or nothing, but I am very happy with them, it works on many levels..

I'm thinkin a hand-rail would be a must on them for this old farmer ;) :shots: :cheers: :stretcher: Outstanding space saver though.

Thats next , I'm not done yet, going to put them on both sides..

Very clever. The danger point I see is if one starts off with the left foot and gets a big surprise. I notice that if the rail is on the right side I start with the left foot, and with the rail on the left I start with the right foot. I don't know what most do or if left handedness makes any difference. For that reason I would favor the rail on the left at the top of the stairs.

Yes, you have to pick the right foot first, other than that there is no difference, it's just a bit steeper, but I met code..

I find that ascending is OK, but I have to turn around and descend backwards to feel comfortable. Trying to go forward is too strange.

I'm going to have to post pix of my bomb shelter stairs.. yes I have one from 1950,, those are scary stairs..
