Jim, some members answered the survey, but didn't post a Reply. A reply isn't required, but does add details.

Happened again tonight. I was on and I went to post and the page went white and wouldn't load. I closed Chrome and opened IE and still couldn't get the page to load. Went to my wife's computer and tried with no better result. I then tried my cell phone using the WIFI connection from my wireless and it still wouldn't load. At that point I turned off the WIFI on the phone and went with my data connection (AT&T) and it still wouldn't load. Got me stumped.

It started at 12:30am and lasted until approx. 1:10am.

This was isolated issue at the datacenter that effected many people.

FYI there is a very brief period in the AM of few minutes when it is inaccessible because the database tables are locked for a backup. I think that is right around 1 AM. I need to get a "We'll be right back" page for that

Only sissies do backups. :P

When I first started working with computers, when dinosaurs still trod the earth, we had no disks. Then came disks but they were so unreliable that, before doing software upgrades, I would take AT LEAST two separate backups to tape, then more double-backups in the course of the upgrade, because of course tapes were pretty unreliable too. Then disks improved, then tapes gradually caught up in reliability, then with RAID protection combined with hot spares disk failures became so rare they are hardly a consideration. The main reason for backups now is to protect against software and human errors that lose or scramble the data.

But I'm still a wicked sissy.

Yes, I've seen other sites with messeges such as:
" we are temporarily unavailable due to maintenance. Please try again later."
