I'm assuming this should go under 2013-2014 coal prices (when it shows up), but I quite recently paid $242/ton for 5 tons of delivered bulk Blaschak pea (which includes a 6.5% combined local and State of Ohio sales tax, and also a small penalty fee for the delivery distance exceeding 20 miles). Yes, Ohio taxes coal.

I was in the Scranton area earlier this month and stopped in at Hudson Anthracite and they quoted a $170/ton picked up. Dropping my daughter off at school in Ithaca in late August, may drive down and pickup a couple of tons. Seeing that I will be towing a car hauler anyway.

Hudson said they can do a Nut/Pea mix for me. Has anybody ever purchased that from Hudson? The car hauler is like a 6' x 8' - any idea how deep 2 tons of Pea or Nut will be?

Hudson is very not too far from I-81 which is great. Could I find a better or comparable price further north on I-81 or closer to Ithaca?

IIRC a ton of coal is about 42 cubic feet. So 2 tons would be less than 2 feet deep in your trailer.
Are the sides of the trailer rugged enough? Coal won't just sit there in a neat pyramidal pile, it will flow to all sides.

I calculated my coal delivery of 6 tons to have a volume of roughly 34 cubic feet per ton after doing some math against the size of my coal bin. Mine is nut size. So it may level out a little bit lower still :D

Matches my figures for pea almost exactly.
