Well Pump Runs...CONSTANTLY....

A "lone" is apparently how my smartphone thinks LINE is spelled. Stupid phone.

Yes, the tanks come precharged but I think with even your car tires and everything else that is pressurized that over time they lose their pressure. Which is why I will be checking mine once a year now.

It's been about a week since fixing my well and things have been great. My pump runs maybe once a day now.

From 40 down to 28 gives me another 4 minutes of shower time. Might not be the best pressure, but if it makes my $400 pump last another 10 years, I'll deal with the low pressure. Small price to pay for us.

Fred, there should be a sticker on the side of it that says what the precharge was set for at the factory. Or look on the internets but I'm pretty sure they are precharged. They probably lose that precharge over time though.

whomever installed it should have checked and adjusted the pressure. If you paid to have it installed, loose their phone number. If you installed it, well, lesson learned....

My tank is due to be replaced. I have to re charge the air pressure in the bladder every couple months or more. Also my pump is pulling some air and won't pressure up over 45 pounds. Used to hit 60 no problem. I've been investigating but I can't find where its pulling in the air.

Back in the day, I believe the old glass-lined tanks came pre-charged ... if my brain is working correctly.

Amtrol pre-charges their tanks. At least according to their website and the cut sheet that came with my tank.

Yes, but I always check them prior to installation and each one has been a little low...probably just some air lost in storage.

oops...I used a tire gauge. I almost bought a dial gauge but didn't. It was $4 more expensive than the new tire gauge I bought. Oh...well.. :D

Yeah I don't even use tire gauges on tires. They're crap.

I've got a nice Winters dial gauge with an internal damper (eliminates need for liquid filling) that's accurate to within 1% of scale, 0-100 psi. I demand accuracy. :D
