I think of 2 items, why isn't there an appropriate barrier in place and why are people stupid enough to stand in a jet's exhaust stream?

I remember my old boss telling me he made the mistake of walking behind the towers at maple grove drag strip before they had the tall cement walls when they were firing up a jet dragster, he said he had to run to the other side, not to cross the road, he just needed some oxygen. :o

I'm sure her head wasn't the only thing busted - probably her ear drums as well. Back in the 90's at Philly's Intern'l terminal, one could stand at the fence close to British Air's 747. At idle just one engine was so loud it was pretty nasty so at full takeoff thrust this had to be ear shattering.

That is bringing back bad memories.I saw the same thing happen several times on the deck of the Carrier. The results were worse as it was about an eighty foot drop.At the beginning of every launch they used to announce something like :On Deck Stand-By To Start The Jets,Hats and Goggles Down,Beware Of Jet Blast and Prop Wash,-Start The Jets. With a bunch of aircraft all moving around and some with 2 engines you need eyes in your, well you know. The bad part was at night when you didn't even know it happened until the guy's job went unattended. We had no excuse as the danger was explained over and over, the kids in the video probably had no idea what forces are involved with a jet engine. They have signs posted all over the place down there & some of the close beach front bars even broadcast communications between the tower & planes.
