Fundamentalist revisionist authors have always tried hard to paint the Founders as Christians rather than the Deists that they openly professed to be. The list of Jefferson quotes from reviewers proving the author to be quite wrong (many quotes from his private letters to John Adams are listed in the reader reviews section on the Amazon link provided above) are quite telling, as is the general acceptance level of this book by the looks of the reviews.

Our personal faith should not cloud over and mask the professed faith of those from the past. The past is what it is, and the beliefs of the Founders are what they are.
