Why didnt i think of this ?????

Years ago when the weather was bad the school bus driver would ask me and my buddy to put the tire chains on for him, in return he would leave us smoke on the bus after we finished the job,,,, aaawwww,,, the good old days. Good thing he didnt have the bus equiped with these !!!! Saw this on the back of a bus. AUTOMATIC TIRE CHAINS. Thought WTF,,,, Here they are

Automatic tire chains have been around for 20+ years. I used them on an oil truck back in the early '90's.

I've seen chains hanging underneath fire trucks and ambulances. Never knew what they were for though.

I'll bet those scuff up the blacktop some ! Just think about a stone or some peagravel. Would be like a weedeater,,,, got any trimming to do ? :up:

The guy that delivers my coal has a similar system.
His is for more of an emergency situation.

These are required equipment on all school buses in Carroll County, MD. Also most fuel oil delivery trucks have them. Also on most fire department emergency equipment. Very common around here even if most people don't know what they are or how they work.

We have these on our heavy rescue truck at the F.D. The key is to activate them before you get in a jam as they run off the tire rotation itself. I'm no expert on them by any means but I don't think they are made for long hauls but just as an aid for hills and slick spots. These are the chains we have.
