PostBy: MATTHEW D. On: Mon Apr 23, 2012 7:17 pm

Went on a call today....He said he was having outfire problems and the damn thing never shuts off in the winter. WOW NO timer?? NO fuse or breaker?? The motor was blown?? Do you guys think he could squeeze another year out of the grates or coal pipe?? He built an outside addition for the boiler. I"m no heat loss expert, But do you think the 8x10 foot hole in the wall has anything to do with it?? He didn't think that was a problem because he had insulation on the boiler. There was some animal living in the boiler house and the statue in the yard was giving me the willies!!!! I explained all this to him over the phone because he is out of town till may 9th. He said fix it all...I said I"ll fix it when you get back in town with the $$. He said OK.....Story will continue after may 9th. Here are some pic....Enjoy!!

Matt, do you find these guys or do they find you?

This guy has gone a little extreme on "make-up air" for the boiler room. :P

Make sure your liability insurance is paid up. Sometimes it's just better to walk away regardless of the money. I've touched a few like that but never again.

Matt, is this thing near a river? One might wonder what slithers up from down south of you guys!!!!! I have no words of encouragement, but this situation reminds me of the 'Pulp Fiction' scenes about: "What just happened here ain't natural!!!"

If you EVEN suspect there is a facial harness and a couple shiny red balls, I'd make off like a Cruise Missile! It AIN'T right from where I'm sitting. I may be down there about the time you have to make that call, so perhaps we can 'visit' this gentleman together.
My first guess is that he was a 'bean counter' in a previous life, because we have a few just like this right here on the forum!    ;)

He makes a 'Skim Milk Yankee' look like a philanthropist!!!!! Ask Smitty or Rob just how cheap those guys are. They are like the 105 year old guy who drives a Model T and has had 42 exhaust systems 'on the house' from Midas.

Somehow these people find me....Just paid up on my Insurance, covered on that. As soon as I opened the door My first thoughts were to walk away! Just wanted to see more before I made a decision. Looked Inside the house on the other side of the wall and all the heating system pipes, expansion tank, circulator pumps, valves, copper, etc. were all brand new and professionally done. Impressive! Walked back outside and scratched my head :?: I decided to proceed with caution......Lots more to talk about before I start.

What lives on the deck?...
Nice use of the Safety Fence...
The room just needed to breath a bit...
Just gotta think a winter wall had to have been in place...

That is the finest example of a well preserved EFM 520 or perhaps a 350...the coal tube looks original......outfires? wonder why?????
