A Sunny Side ?
Enfin, we get some colder temp. -1*C / 30.2*F.
So shutoff the Golden burning eco-logs and woke up the Sunnyside. Easy to start with: pièces of cardbox on the grate, some newspaper over, 3 eco-log slices, some charcoal , a few pieces of anthr. then a shot of lamp oïl over that then :fire.
Instant fire and a few minutes later the blues. No mess, no odor, just pure fire.
Now the cold is welcome, I mean outside of the house
Have a warm Winter.

LOVE those Baltimore heaters and yours is the best. All your hard work was all worth it. Congrats.
Thanks PAP, in fact that Baltimore Heater is the perfect one for my installation. I feel more confortable ( code rules) to have an insert, the Sunnyside is an insert that fits in the faux-foyer. Then the warm air can be send to the 3 floors with less than one degree from one room to one other.
Not made for all installations but for mine it's perfect. The air circulation is also an important item but I had the same air syst. with the previous wood stoves and with the Vigll but none compare to the Sunnyside. So efficient that I stop the Golden Bride when the Heater comes ON.

Nortcan, I read this entire thread earlier today. I was glad to see that you were afflicted with a good disease (that you caught from William).
You did a fantastic job on the restoration of the Baltimore Heater, and the installation looks great also. You should be very proud of yourself.
I think the thing that surprises me the most, is that you are heating that kind of square footage on three floors with that heater.

Thanks, the thing I'm proud of is the Sunnyside / Base Burner Virus . The re-restoration was only what can be named: *the William's médicine* . Yes the Heater heats 2,100 Sqf total, so 3 floors of about 700 Sqf each at about 72*F on the 3 floors 24/7, 6 months non-stop, and not many anthracite considering the cold Winter we got last year. Thanks to Doc. Will.SWPaDon wrote:Nortcan, I read this entire thread earlier today. I was glad to see that you were afflicted with a good disease (that you caught from William).

Candyman, if you can find one , a complete one and can install it so you can send the warm air somewhere you will love it. They are powerful base burner. Usually they have 16" fire pot, so they can burn a 12 Hrs + no-touch . But the most part of the heat is send to the back of the Heater so you must be able to direct that heat to an upstair room or a room at the back of the stove or beside of it...

Thank you for that information. Newbie here but learning a lot . That stove would not work for me then since my fireplace is on an outside wall with no rooms over it. You saved me from making a mistake. I will have to explore other options then, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated .
You know Candyman, we all learn something ,sometime on this forum and that is great!Candyman wrote:Thank you for that information. Newbie here but learning a lot . What are you planning to do with your actual fireplace: heat the place around the fireplace, all the level/floor , all the house, have just a fire view on the weekends??????? A modern insert stove with a blower fan could be OK to circulate the heat in the house, many members have anthracite inserts and have good results. But a standing stove is more efficient to warm up an area.
My installation is quite special and not possible in most of the places. As is, it heats the 3 floors at about the same temp.

There is one other tiny little problem, good Baltimore heaters are as rare as hens teeth.

Hi, I'm going to use it to heat a 22x36 room with 16ft cathedral cieling, that room is on the end of the house but the kitchen and living and dining room are also on that floor. I looked at the hitzer inserts but thought they would cook that room out? Maybe the parlor heater that William has a video of?

That is nearly 13000 cu ft --- WOW. It is well insulated? and it makes a difference whether you are in ME or MD. I would go for overkill but then that's me. Psst, the William stove (I assume the Glenwood #6 series) will blow the doors off an insert. OMG, the ideal great room with a Glenwood #8 at one end all done out in a Gatsby mode, Big Ass (brand) ceiling fan - bliss.
Damn I've wet my pants.
