Have a little surface rust on my Keystoker grate. What's the best way to remove it? Can these grates be sanded with sanding paper or a wire brush without damaging them? Thanks!

Wire brush works good too, after cleaned up, just put a light coat of LPS3 on it, it may still have some rust, but shouldn't rust much once coated.

I use the electrolysis method all the time, I use an old shovel for the piece that goes to hell, and grind it off and reuse it on the next job. Be patient and do not tweak the formula it has already been figured out, patience is a virtue :P

With all this discussion about rust on grates I just went down & rechecked mine, not a speck of rust. I keep a extension light burning off season & after the clean-out I spray PAM cooking spray over most everything & it seems to do a good job the sides with the common steel will still have minimal rust but I expect that. I see no reason why you couldn't simply sand the grates off, keep things as simple & easy as you can has always been my motto.
