IMO the bottom line is we are going to pay more as we export more & we don't even get any tax money from it. What everyone seems to forget is the global economy, it's no longer what we are willing to pay it's what someone else is. We allowed & even encouraged by tax incentives the better portion of our manufacturing base to leave for the profit of a few while at a cost to many & we almost all jumped on the buy Walmart hype because we thought it was saving us a few bucks but it's the old pay me now or pay me later game & now we have to pay, we gave our choice away.
Getting us off coal doesn't mean there won't be any mining or money making but quite the opposite, there is big money investing in coal. We will be mining more than ever & the biggest coal reserves are in the West where there are still lots of wide open spaces & a shorted route to China. Much the same goes to the liquefied NG that will go to Europe, as always follow the money the infrastructure is being set up.
