I'm thinking the shoes are missing a "direct-attach moulding" that keeps out water. Hmmmm.

What I find interesting is that the website has those shoes I wear listed as available. I just bought new shoes about two weeks ago and they said they were not being made anymore. He even called his distributor to see if he could get a pair that may have been left over. I ended up buying a pair of timberland Oxfords that are actually very comfortable. http://shop.timberland.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4208383&prodFindSrc=search

For boots I wear a pair of Redwing Wellington boots. They are by far the most comfortable boot I have worn and are over ten years old.

The local shoemaker told me that the problem today [I took in my leakers] is the composition of the materials used in the sole and welting. He claims that they are compounded way too hard compared to years ago. Hard compounds lead to lower skid resistence and cracking when they are flexed [like what shoe isn't flexed].He claims that is where all the inclination to leak comes from. What ever happened to that good old American stuff we grew up expecting to stay the same? Do the best with what we have fellows, that might even mean baggies tied around each foot! Mike

Every pair of boots i own are red wings and you still need to only purchase the boots still made in MN. Heavy leather without all the synthic junk which make your feet sweat. Image of my 11" peco i wear for motorcycling. I was fortunate to be able to have one new pair of boots per year up to $150 for many years. I still have a few pairs laying around. Old red wings seem to never wear out.

have a lot of foot problems, had surgery 18 months ago on my left foot, tried the red wings and they just do not hold up in my work environment, have been wearing lacrosse boots, hold up great and are comfortable, tried the red back boots and will never go back my feet and legs never felt better,

I did receive an e mail reply from Wolverine, they attached a form and indicated that I should return the shoes directly to them for a free replacement.

Starting July 2nd Orvis will be selling the Gokey Lightweight Upland Boot for $ 140.40 which is a bargain because they usually sell for $ 395.00 dollars.

My 2 year old pair of Wolverines are staged next to the trash can. Granted they have been worn a lot, but cracked soles and weather-checked leather after two years seems pretty extreme. The Red Wing Pecos that I'm wearing right now are 10 years old, and the first 5 was the same daily service that killed the Wolverines in 2.

This is a great example of "quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten". I just ordered a MADE IN USA pair of Red Wings to replace them.

I'm really happy with my Carolina work shoes, made in the USA:

An added bonus, they weren't that expensive!

Rob, you got to watch I just bought a pair of Red Wings & I'm guessing at least some are Made in China or elsewhere. Mine have been great so far no complaints other than not American Made.
