Incredible. Scary part is I remember when Cali banned smoking and we all thought they were nuts, then Bangor Maine banning smoking in cars with kids. Connecticut is trying to regulate outdoor woodfired boilers out of existance.
Don't laugh, what happens in California almost always sets the new standard throughout the country.

I can understand the need for such legislation in some areas. I could see banning wood fires in a very urban setting however this should be taken care of on local level and not state wide. As far as banning it in a rural setting thats almost laughable. Whenever such legislation is enacted on a state level it's usually sweeping reform. Probably one of the reasons the NRA fights every little thing tooth and nail, most members may agree with some gun legislation but don't want to give an inch because they'll take a mile.

Well if it was on local level it would be democracy in action because it would be majority rule based on local circumstances. Sweeping regulations never work because they never apply to all circumstances. If you're living in a neighborhood where the houses are right next to each other I'd imagine a lot of people would mind the fireplace smell. We live in a pretty close community and apparently one of neighbors is burning wood because I can occasionally smell it, besides the initial "what the hell is on fire" alarm when they first started I don't mind it but I'm sure there are others that do.spc wrote:That would be urban discrimination
