Starting to get a little frustrating....
The first thing to note is that the database backup is not completely up to date. It was made Saturday morning approximately 9 A.M. so anything including posts, PM's, files or anything else carried out after that time until the the server went down in the evening is lost. Approximately a 12 hour period. There is nothing I can do to recover those 12 hours but its not a huge loss. Fortunately I make my own backups as the one the hosting company had was from Thursday at some time.
Also note I didn't have a more recent backup of the uploaded files than the hosting company has so any files posted after Thursday are also lost. In my haste to get the restore the database I didn't look for the exact time on Thursday it was from so I'm not exactly sure where the cut-off is for the files. You can re upload them to the same posts if you want.
If you registered after 9 A.M. Saturday until the meltdown in the evening you will have to reregister , you can use the same information as your account no longer exists.
I'll be taking steps to insure that at most I'll only lose an hours worth of data in the future. That had been my intention but with everything else going on I didn't have a chance to do it.
----------------------------
The server this site is hosted on went down with another Saturday due to a hardware failure. Really nothing I can do about it and this is expected to happen occasionally (as in every few years), Unfortunately for me the dark cloud keeps following me around. I should be good for a decade after this month. I want to stress this not a common occurrence with this company, they are very transparent with issues like this. If there is failure everyone in the world can know about it, looking through the past few months there are very few happenings where a server went down for as long as this. Hopefully there will be no major issues in the foreseeable future.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Welcome Back...Again

Yea maybe once in while but It get to be a PITA (pun inteneded) after a while. Having said that I noticed some issues where pages were not being served as fast as they should be, haven't noticed that yet so perhaps it was good thing as far as that goes.Dallas wrote:Kind of sounds like an "enema".
