MA drivers - we've been at it a looooong time!

How ironic most of these wrecks were around Boston. Between 1921 -1933 ... so that explains alot.

Great pictures though. I love the chain-drive trucks - my neighbor was just telling me about those not to long ago. Said you could hear them coming a mile away. Guess the chains made a hell of a racket. But back to the pics - I spent quite some time on there checking out the cars/trucks, buildings/houses, roads, bridges, telephone poles, sidewalks/curbs, the way people acted & dressed - it's just amazing how much has changed (most of it for the worst ...).

Some good pictures Smitty, we have come a long way since the spring steel bumpers (crappy brakes). As for the chain drive trucks I got to drive an old Sterling chain drive(an old logging truck) didn't notice that much noise but then again I don't think I went over a couple MPH, hauled a 175 ton BOF vessel top a few hundred yards, modern trucks would burn out the clutch & never get moving.

Yeah that era didn't have the metal strength down yet, as you can see from the wrecks. Another 10 years changed all that. I love how you can fix a blown babbit with your belt on the side of the road on those, & drive yourself home - no towing charges or AAA needed.

Pretty cool photos, but survivability unlikely in most. Brakes have come a long way!
