Monsanto

This is just insane....

Even though the state of Vermont is trying desperately to pass a bill which would require GMO foods to be labeled, the state’s efforts are being threatened by biotech giant Monsanto. In retaliation of the GMO labeling bill, Monsanto has threatened to sue Vermont if any such bill is passed. Sadly, Vermont elected public officials may surrender to the threats and intimidation brought about by the GMO creator.

Monsanto sues pretty much everybody.

If you watch "Food, Inc." you'll learn about the "veggie laws" which prevent anyone from saying anything bad about their franken food.

Monsanto appears to be corrupting our politicians, our laws, and our judicial system. When sued they settle out of court for pennies on the dollar they have earned so no judicial decisions are left behind to hinder their path to total world domination of food. They also love to bring threatening law suits.

However, there is a quiet revolution against Monsanto and its ilk going on right now in grocery stores across the country as their organic food sections and selections grow astronomically and thereby take shelf space away from non-organic foods.

No one (sans perhaps those in the military or in prison) is being forced to consume franken-food.

The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Sociopaths are not constrained by conscience or empathy. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Money and power are interchangeable at a certain point. If you believe my premises that leads to evil controlling the world.

Monsanto is a case in point.

But I thought most here (cons) loved & cherished big business after all they should be held high on a pedestal as a job creator & given subsidies & tax breaks. You can't pick on Monsanto, as an individual that would be unfair it is a person & has every right to do what it wants. The little part about as long as it hurts no one doesn't apply, it's bought & paid for that loophole.

I'm kinda on the fence on this issue. I look at it this way, where am I one the entire scale of humanity as far as access to food is concerned. There's like a billion or more people that are starving in this world, millions that have to try and suck water out of damp dry river beds.
And there's also the saying, "Eat right, stay fit, and die anyway." :D

I'm completely shocked and surprised that Sam would jump at the chance to vilify a "corporation." :)

We're Americans, we gripe and moan about everything half of the world would consider paradise.

If they were just 'up front' about everything they do... full disclosure, the consumer could decide on their own if they would like to eat the frankin food or not. It appears there is no honesty in that company and they get help in hiding the truth. I would go so far as to say, government is not only helping them hide the truth, but misleading the general public. I realize I am being simplistic here, sometimes honesty is difficult, but I always find it the best way to be. I found this artical too.... I will say it looks real but I can't confirm that it is.

They are for zero-disclosure, as they realize that given sufficient knowledge to make a choice, at least some percantage of the populace (likely to grow with time) will choose to walk away from Monsanto corrupted GM seeds and crops. But once all crops are Monsanto GM crops it will be much harder to do so.
