Another Commencement Address

Another Commencement Address

PostBy: franco b On: Tue Jun 19, 2012 3:08 pm

This is by Niel Boortz.
http://www.boortz.com/news/news/local-e ... ech/nCG7H/

"I am honored by the invitation to address you on this august occasion. It's about time. Be warned, however, that I am not here to impress you; you'll have enough smoke blown up your bloomers today. And you can bet your tassels I'm not here to impress the faculty and administration. You may not like much of what I have to say, and that's fine. You will remember it though. Especially after about 10 years out there in the real world. This, it goes without saying, does not apply to those of you who will seek your careers and your fortunes as government employees.
This gowned gaggle behind me is your faculty. You've heard the old saying that those who can - do. Those who can't - teach. That sounds deliciously insensitive. But there is often raw truth in insensitivity, just as you often find feel-good falsehoods and lies in compassion. Say good-bye to your faculty because now you are getting ready to go out there and do. These folks behind me are going to stay right here and teach.
By the way, just because you are leaving this place with a diploma doesn't mean the learning is over. When an FAA flight examiner handed me my private pilot's license many years ago, he said, “Here, this is your ticket to learn.” The same can be said for your diploma. Believe me, the learning has just begun.

No backlash on a view, everyone is entitled to one but if your going to bother with posting at the very least post a real Commencement Address instead of something that has been around for years.

If that were the case Franco then we would be posting make believe stories for others liberals to agree with. At least come up with something new & hard to debunk. It seems the only one that was conned by that was a Con..

OK.

Cut spending and balance the budget. Stop inflating the money supply. Stop bailing out big business. Enforce or change immigration law. Stop making the poor, poorer.

The odd thing is I think you would agree with most of that.

Contrary to popular belief I don't read everything posted here and I'm sure the same is true of the other mods. If you find something in violation of copyright use the report button so it's highlighted and we can review it.

Franco, your right I do agree with it as I hope most do, there is just a difference of opinion of how to go about it. Actually a good bit of the bail out money has been paid. If we would have sliped into a depression by letting them all fail as many believe is up for debate, personally I think we would have gone into one but even if not it would also take longer to come out of a deeper recession. I'm not a gambler by nature. I don't really know all that much about him having control over the Fed. He's trying to chance immigration laws & has in the past & been shot down by Congress. You tell me how going back to the very things that we did is going to have a different out come? I've been caught in a recieveing end of a recession & it always takes longer to come out than slip in & that's with some help from both parties.

But that's the problem. What you call "help", I call "standing in the way of recovery."

Ever heard of the Depression of 1920-1921?

No?

There's a reason for that.

Face it,
life is better under democratic presidents.
Unless you're filthy rich and don't give a rat's ass about anybody else.

History of Recession
A HISTORY OF RECESSION IN THE UNITED STATES 1950 TO 2008
Written by: mike kohr 2/12/2008

Criminologists look for patterns to solve and prevent crimes. And in the comparison of the economic records of Democrat and Republican administrations there is a glaring pattern all but ignored by the corporate media. Nine of the last ten recessions have occurred under the direction of Republican economic policy. And proving that history does repeat itself, examine the three greatest slowdowns in US economic history, 1929*, 1982, 2007, all three were attributed to poor economic and tight credit policy, all three featured deregulation and lack of oversight of the financial markets, and all three were presided over by a Republican President.

Recession of 2007-present George W. Bush(R) Greatest downturn since 1929, blamed on lack of regulation of financial markets and collapse of credit markets

Recession of 2001 George W. Bush(R) Began in April of 2001, marked the beginning of greatest deficit spending in all of recorded human history

History might not lie but people do.

Your OPINION is that life is better under one party or another. That's not necessarily so.
