Glenwood Base Heater No. 6 minimum wall clearance?

Does anyone know what the minimum wall clearance needs to be for my Glenwood Base Heater No. 6. It is being set to burn only coal. I live in Spencer, MA and wanted to do some research before calling the Fire Chief.

If you protect any combustible with a sheet of metal or ceramic spaced 1 inch from the wall you should be able to go to 18 inches.
