I am being told the Blaschak preperation facility in Revine PA has closed.
They were boarding up the windows when a friend of mine went for a load.He was told by the workers there is no coal.

Yes they did shut it down. Not a big deal, don't all you crisis oriented people blow it out of proportion or turn it into a 50 page post. toothy

Does that mean there will be no Blaschak period? I only have access to Kimmels and Blashack. And the kimmels I tried wasn't very good.

franklin satelite breaker shut down due to the fact that they could not justify keeping the place open for a few thousand ton a year for residential heating, there is more Blaschak coal available now than ever before you just have to travel a little more. Before everyone gets in a tizzy about this you have to realize the fact of the latest regulations by our wonderful state of P.A. that states no vehicle can leave a certified weighmasters scale with anything over the maximum gross weight of any vehicle, since the majority of sales at his location were pickups and small trucks it does not justify selling 7 or 8 hundred pounds of coal to remaain legal on weight. get ready coal haulers, it is going to happen at all small breakers or anyone who has a certified scale. even at the main breaker with tri-axles or tractor trailers if you are over 73,260 with tri-axle or 80.000 with trailer you are not leaving property, you are dumping off to make legal weight,,it sucks but thats the law.i wonder if OBAMA is behind this, since he said he was putting coal out of business.F--- HIM SCRAPPER

As far as I know that has been the law for a long time but just like the tarp law in Pa. very few enforced it. Could be that either because of cuts from the state locals are looking for any & everything or Corbett is having the state boys enforce it.

What's the likely way this will be enforced for pickups with trailers by the scale weightmaster? Look at the gross weight rating of the pickup plus trailer? Bring your truck and trailer owners manual with weight rating specs for documentation? How about the weight licensing (registration tag) differences between states? For example, MD is different than PA. It's so complex it will likely be largely ignored for pickups with small trailers, or the mines will just stop selling to the little guy.

On the State to State thing, my thoughts would be that the mines are responsible for staying within Pa's guide lines & only that. --it's only as complicated as one wish's to make it. Weight limits were in effect when I lived in Pa & that's been 35 yrs ago--now I guess they are going to enforce them & I agree, it's alot to do with liability--you leave a bar drunk & have an accident?? the bar & bar tender get sued--WTF--ya gotta love lawyers-- I hate trying to simplify stuff like this, but that's how this old farmer see's it ;)

At the rate things are going Fred, very soon a person is going to get drunk in a bar, leave and have a single car accident. Not only will he sue the bar and bartender for letting him drink, he will soon sue his own MOTHER for giving birth to him in the first place.

That is the pace we are on in this Country. No one is responsible for their own actions anymore. :o

Go to several breakers down of rt 61. They do not care about what you bring they will load it. Its up to you to be legal not them. They are not required to find out the gvwr of any vehicle, that is the owners responsibility. As for having to tarp before you go out of uae harmony, they do not wash their coal, and people will load them up big time and it lets the stuff fly.
They volunteered to do that, nobody makes them, again if you drive away with no tarp and it breaks a windshield you paid for it, you are responsible. There were no laws passed to make the breakers or certified scales be responsible for dmv law, the only thing they must do is give you your weight numbers, which in turn will tell you the driver if you will be legal or not.
