how about you don't say silly things about President Obama?

Hows abouts you try being honest? The Oil leases that arejust now producing were Leases President GW Bush signed.

It was your president that shut down the gulf killing thousands of jobs.

It was your president that took ANWAR and shut it off from oil production forever.

It was your president that killed the Pipeline, thus preventing thousands of jobs to be created here and instead Canada is just going to pipe it to Vancouver to Chinese tankers.

It was your president that has kept his Promise to Bankrupt the Coal industry.

It was your president that gave Solyndra.

It was your president that Gave the Auto industry to Union Thugs and gave every taxpayer the middle finger....and he's proud of it.

Keep shilling for your president, you'll get your wish to see our ranking in the world continue to slide lower as this asshat in office, instead empowering us is managing our decline...and loving it.
Hopey Changy alright, can't believe how many suckers bought into this freak job.

Lets just say that the end of cheap oil in the USA occurred in roughly 1971. We have lots of oil, but the reason why so many small oil wells in the USA are not producing is that it would cost more to tap them then the oil they provide would yield in return. There is lots of oil here, but it is all costly. Much of the USA oil production up-tick these days is due to the Bakken Oil Field, which must be drilled horizontally, and at great cost. Much of the Canadian up-tick is due to oil sands, which are similarly to perhaps even more costly. Ditto for offshore oil, which is also very costly. It's all a matter of how much you are willing to pay, but if you were willing to pay about $20 per gallon for gasoline or diesel, we might just have enough sources nigh at hand to get rid of all foreign oil. Who here is ready to volunteer to pay $20/gallon so we can tell the Arabs to sell their oil elsewhere? Step right up!!! Don't be shy!!! Put America and Americans back to work!!!

It's the same situation as for TV's, stereos, cell phones, and literally everything else, you name it. Triple to quadruple the current price, and we can make enough of them to supply all of our own needs, eliminating unemployment in the process, but the only problem is that our bankrupt population no longer earns sufficient income to permit this. That last occurred also in about 1971.

Need I mention that in 1971 Nixon severed our dollars value link to, as well as its convertibility into gold (When he ended the gold standard, effectively defaulting the USA on all of its foreign debt obligations with the stroke of a pen. I bet you were never told that we have been a technically and functionally bankrupt nation since 1971). Nixon also opened our door to trade with China in 1971. These two events (severing the dollar from gold, and opening up trade with China) are highly linked.

Ed.A, it was your Pres. that gave approval to allow a foreign Co. to put a pipeline across our country without any studies, it was blocked for awhile by Republican Governors. Yours allowed a foreign Co. to take American land from American landowners using eminent domain. The promised jobs aren't there, never were. Much of the Trans Canadian Pipe line is completed & done under this Pres.. The pipe was bought from Germany & India. The main persons that stand to make money off of this are the Koch Bros., all it is going to do is increase the amount of oil that Canadian & U.S. partnerships are going to export, it even has the potential to increase our domestic prices. But then again if it's good for Koch it's good for Congress.

Uhmm, no. The pipeline project passed 7 different tests for approval ( that alone tells us our Government is way out of control) and greenlighted it was killed by the douche bag in chief.

Wonderbread builds strong bodies 12 ways! The pipeline passed 7 tests for approval!
Why are we building a pipeline to carry Canadian oil to the Gulf of Mexico so it can be exported? How will this help the US? :?: :?:

How do any of our policies help the US?

At some point you have to ask if that's even the purpose.

Most of those tests were done after the Governors complained, there were one or two that they tried to begin with, just another thing to try & ram down our throats with empty promises. Pretty bad when foreigners can kick American land owners off their own land. You notice how they add some of our domestic oil in along the way, that will cut our surpluses & increase our price once again. When ever something comes along that sounds too good just follow the money. Only thing it will help is oil profits, use any source you like to look up facts but use more than one as a hint I think the oil institute will be a wee bit bias.

Can't argue with that Sam. Step outside the box for a second, I think it's all Democrat policies and you think it's all Republican policies. Sometimes it feels like something is causing us to oppose each other to the point of absurdity. The damn internet allows us to gather information to oppose each other with. I got all kinds of informational ammo today, with the intent of blasting away with it; to oppose the differing point of view on this topic.
Everything is pretty much known about human behavior so what if we're all being fed this manipulative context; with the goal of divide and conquer? NWO? Communism? Caliphate? Who knows what kind of tsunami is coming? I don't want to get swept away by it.

But I guess it is the politics section.

Lsayre that's really good information. I need to consider that. I knew Nixon got rid of the gold standard, I did not like that.
I think about Nixon opening up China, now look what happened.

The oil information seems to make sense, but how is it that North Dakota has a booming economy? I don't think North Dakota crude prices reflect $20 gasoline. Well, we have plenty of coal, I do not know for sure why we don't go that route.
I won't get into the reasons I think it is; it will provoke a reaction. :D

As far as the topic is concerned, my immediate future seems to harbor a penalty tax.

Part of our capacity to generate our own liquid fuels (gasoline and diesel) would have to come from very costly coal and NG liquefaction. Bakken output is not at the level of $20 per gallon (yet), but it is our only realistic current hope to keep us from $20.

:( Very true. We would all be good buddies if we got together to discuss our coal stoves, but politics as usual, divide and conquer seems to be working., keeps us all fighting over the wrong questions.

I see the Govorner LePage of Maine if ruffling feathers..... Here's the quote that has people up in arms: "Now that Congress can use the taxation power of the federal government to compel behavior or lack thereof, what’s next? More taxes if we don’t drive Toyota Priuses or if we eat too much junk food or maybe even pea soup?
This decision has made America less free. We the people have been told there is no choice. You must buy health insurance or pay the new Gestapo – the I.R.S."

Here's a link to his entire address: http://www.maine.gov/tools/whatsnew/ind ... &v=article

This is something NEW? Ever since my first "real" job at age 15, I have had to pay the IRS, and they were even more like the Gestapo then. There are lots of things I would prefer not to pay taxes for. I like our governor when he is being a manager rather than a partisan politician. I'll be glad to give him a pass on paying the healthcare tax, if he will arrange a pass for me on the state and federal programs I disagree with. Otherwise he can kiss my butt.
