Tell Google it should uphold the Second Amendment!

Google shopping decided it would ban "weapons" from Google shopping. This includes accessories, such as scopes, grips, slings, etc..

American companies should be PROMOTING American rights, not stifling them! The government has already set up enough obstacles to exercising our Second Amendment right - we don't need American companies to do the same!

A few folks in the shooting community wrote a petition to tell Google we're not pleased with their decision. Feel free to add your name to the list! SUPPORT YOUR RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS!!!!

I never heard of Google Shopping until I read your post, but I will assuredly never use their service. I abandoned using the Google search engine about a year ago and settled on Startpage. Now all of the sudden Startpage says it is assisted by Google, so I need another search engine. Any Google free suggestions out there?

I don't use Google either. Never heard of Startpage - I'm going to check that one out. Thanks for the info!

It's most likely the over abundance of lawyers than anything else, when I had my business I would have a licensed gun dealer right there or hold the gun after they paid & when they cleared they could get it, I always considered it CYA, caused some arguments but it kept me from being sued. Way too many lawyers IMO both civilian & definitely in politics, why would you want one making laws for themselves & their bosses which is no longer We The People.

I noticed that too .. but in reading it says any and all searches going through Startpage are protected, regardless of which search engine it uses. Not sure how true, or not true that is, but I switched. I'd like to hear what others are using as well.

Startpage just forwards your search to Google. It strips out any personally identifiable bits and returns the Google results.

Startpage offers you Web search results from Google in complete privacy!

When you search with Startpage, we remove all identifying information from your query and submit it anonymously to Google ourselves. We get the results and return them to you in total privacy.

I use it myself.

If you want the "Google free" version, use www.ixquick.com

It's the same people that do Startpage, without the Google results. They are basically the same but Startpage generally returns more results. But, I have found things using Ixquick that didn't immediately come up on Google.

Neither Startpage nor Ixquick have a "Shopping" function if that's important to anyone.

And, from what I understand, this is a bit of an internet hoax anyway as I know people that have used Google Shopping to look for ammo with no trouble at all. I haven't done it myself so YMMV.

Not that i dont doubt the assanine move, i googled 30.06 ammo and still got shopping results. Maybe still being specific helps

I actually heard about this several days ago, but waited until I saw the story being run by more sources. I believe it. If proved otherwise, I'll be the first to update as soon as I hear about it.

Edit to say: It's not Google the search engine that this is about - it's GOOGLE SHOPPING. If you want to sell stuff on Google Shopping, which you PAY for, they won't allow you to sell scopes, ammo, parts, or anything else to do with firearms, knives, brass knuckles, etc.. Just like eBay ... Pansies ....

Googgl shopping is moving to a commercial venture, all the results will be paid hence the reason they feel they can drop the guns if that's what they are doing.

Searches in the regualr search engine will still return results from sites that sell ammo or guns.

type in 'smoking paraphernalia' and the first link that comes up is a site selling pot smoking accessories. Selling gun accessories is bad but selling illegal drug accessories is okay?

I don;t see that for results in Google Shopping. This is a distinct search for products similar to a catalog, it's not the main search engine. When they launched it you were able to add products for free, they are switching to paid results, e.g. you have to pay to have your product listed.

Any searches in the main search engine will still return "oraganic" results.
