Our friend

Our friend

PostBy: SuperBeetle On: Thu Jul 05, 2012 11:06 am

We had to have our beloved friend and family member Tank put to sleep this morning. He was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy almost 1 year ago. He was given 3-6 months then. He was a great companion and family member and will truly be missed.

RIP my friend.

Sorry for your loss. I have a family member that kept their dog alive for at least a year too long. This was at the insistence of her boyfriend who claims to be an animal expert. The guy is a nutjob. I believe this made the dog suffer but I had to keep my face out of it. The dog was blind, incontinent, dementia, just a sin to keep it alive because they didn't have the sense to let her go.

Sorry for your loss. It is hard but merciful to be able to let them go. The last thing they depend on us for is to be able to let them go at the proper time so they don't suffer.

It's never easy no matter what. He was on heart meds for almost a year and did very well. The heat was bad for him but he didn't know any different. He did get to chase a squirrel and a rabbit this morning which were his arch rivals. It wasn't easy but it was the proper thing to do. We would not allow him to suffer. We were there at the end with him and he is now at peace.

Thank you for making the end of his journey peaceful and comfortable. You are a true friend! ......if only we could do this kind gesture for people, also.
One chapter ends, but time will let you know if a 'new friend' will be in your future.

Life would be soooooooo much better if we could deal with animals every day and not people......not realistic perhaps, but a fine goal. Unconditional love from animals, especially pets. :(

Sorry you had to let Tank go. I'm sure he thanks you for watching, caring, and knowing when discomfort turned to suffering. It's never, ever, an easy decision to make, but it is the final responsibility in caring for a pet.

Very sorry for your loss. The grief you feel is the price we pay for the uncondtional love the give you their whole life. Taking that trip is abut the hardest thing we must do.
