I was there a few months ago, had a big party there and everyone seemed pleased. I love crab cakes but rarely order them out since 9 times out of 10 they are huge disappointment. I'd rather just make them myself or even buy the premade ones from Phillips you can find in the frozen section at some stores but they are $$$.

Next time you consider ordering them online, try these. They are better than Phillips.

I never bought them online, that's just not right. LOL Best crab cakes I ever had was at a little nondescript restaurant on the Outer Banks somewhere south of the Hatteras lighthouse. Probably a family owned place, I just about fell out of my chair when I bit into it. The GF was laughing at me.

My old man makes two trips a year down Chincoteague, he'll brink back some they either trapped or buy some. I love them but it's just too much work.

I was down at Indian River De. last week, went crabbing twice and got 1/2 bushel each time. They certinly are a lot of work catching them and picking them, but well worth the work and quite tasty.

They are using a trap so isn't a whole lot of work. I know if you have a bunch of kids with you catching them by line it is great way to waste an afternoon. You don't have to deal with tangles, hooks etc.

Usually in De. I just put the big crab pots out, this year I started using the small hand traps (18 of them) and run a 1000 ft. trot line in Md. on the Wye river.

With the kids they were just usinga broomstick with a string on it, think they tied chicken livers on it. Just pull them up and net them. The kids loved it.

I have no kids, but its amazing how much fun the kids have catching the crabs, they dont even care if they keep them. They will spend all afternoon with chicken necks and a string, well untill they get pinched then there day sadly is done.
