If this was private industry killing you, you could sue them in court. What do you do when they are fully complying with government regulation?

If the men are protecting the company then shame on them, they are just as guilty as the company. The Gov. provided them with the tools, everyone thinks they are bullet proof when they are young then by the time it catches up it's too late.

The U.S. futures trading industry reeled on Tuesday as federal regulators accused Iowa-based broker PFGBest of misappropriating over $200 million in customer funds for more than two years in an alarming echo of MF Global's collapse.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which had give a clean bill of health to dozens of brokers in January, said that the firm's regulated Peregrine Financial Group (PFG) unit and its owner had failed to maintain sufficient capital in segregated accounts since at least February 2010.

It also said the broker lied to regulators in order to hide the shortfall, which now stands in excess of $200 million, more than half of the broker's total client funds.

If the regulators are just going to take the companies word that they are OK, why do we need the regulators?

More government doesn't solve the problem created by poor government.

It's just like the long line of family politicians that there are more & more of, it's the practice of hiring by relative ability, greed & nobody wanting to actually work of stick their neck out. The Gov. isn't the answer for everything but it isn't to blame either. You think it would be better if the company could just do what they want without even the threat of some type of regulation, corruption has become an expected perk in a lot of areas. How about jail time for the inspectors that didn't inspect right in the same cell as the owners. The workers of today know full well of the risks.

But what really scared this guy was losing all that money. When the auditors came by, he took them to lunch.

When the money was gone, he tried to take his own life.

Like I said the auditors should be on the stand right next to the crook, the only difference is they got caught early. Congress refuses to put any restraints on them because they get much of their insider trading earnings much the same way. Under the way it's been going the guy will end up with a golden parachute pension, the auditors will be bought off & Congress will blame Obama. The highs & lows will be covered & the middle will pay.
What the Gov. has is a bunch of people that want something for nothing & then complain about it & call the Gov. for being stupid for being dumb enough to hire someone like themselves.

Where did I say more? More selective perhaps but not more & there are many areas that could be trimmed & have been in recent years. You sound to me like someone that expects the Gov. to do exactly what you want for you but with no help or support by you. I could be wrong but that's how your increasingly coming across, you put up a post complaining about what the Gov. doesn't do but the story says how the company & workers themselves get around it but you offer no solution & only blame the Gov..

The solution is to have Constitutionally sized government. Which is all I've ever said.

We don't need regulations on banks and doctors and food producers.

If they mismanage your money, they should be sued into non existence. Sorry about your life savings, don't trust a guy who guarantees 8% growth year over year.

If a doctor or food producer injures or kills you, the same thing happens. The court is used to determine guilt and hand out punishment.

That's all the regulation you need.

There is a difference between signing up for & receiving, & it's SSDI the D stands for what you might think, & my wife is on that. The fact that the population is getting older has a lot to do with it & some that had a job that they could do & lost it but aren't suited for other work has some more. It takes a long time to get, first a doctor & medical history before it even starts then you apply & wait, then usually more doctor exams from another SS doctor who may or may not recommend yet another specialist or give their approval. Then more wait, most claims are denied, then a SS Lawyer ( you see the ads everyday) lets see lawyers in Congress, nah wouldn't have anything to do with it. Then more doctors for the lawyer, if he decides you may be right he takes the case, for a %, then more wait & still more, finally you & lawyer go before a judge for a review, then more wait. You are then either approved or denied & you can only get back benefits for a certain amount of months, not to the first signing. But hey it's worth a try.
