woman
n.

An animal usually living in the vicinity of Man, and having a
rudimentary susceptibility to domestication. It is credited by
many of the elder zoologists with a certain vestigial docility
acquired in a former state of seclusion, but naturalists of the
postsusananthony period, having no knowledge of the seclusion,
deny the virtue and declare that such as creation's dawn beheld,
it roareth now. The species is the most widely distributed of all
beasts of prey, infesting all habitable parts of the globe, from
Greeland's spicy mountains to India's moral strand. The popular
name (wolfman) is incorrect, for the creature is of the cat kind.
The woman is lithe and graceful in its movement, especially the
American variety (felis pugnans), is omnivorous and can be
taught not to talk.

I saw a bumper-sticker that proclaimed: "Men are not pigs. Pigs are kind intelligent animals."

I have had a close encounter or two,

My wife and I were out to dinner one night and she saw Tirimisu on the menu, she said, she would like some, but was afraid it might put another dimple on her butt!

I kindly informed her it would not, because there was not room for anymore!

I survived, only to scew up again....

They can be strange animals at time. Just remember not to agitate them and everyone will be fine. Treat your wife or girlfriend much like a mental patient. Keep them calm and fed and they will not bite. :D

I've found that dangling expensive sparkly objects in front of them seems to calm them the best.

So you are saying that the prospect of a second coal stove won't have the same effect?

As a secondary effect yes it will, the second coal stove results in enough savings to but more sparkly objects.
