It's different in one way in that if you posted what you do here in the countries that Dann mentioned, you would be locked up, or worse.

Maybe.

So we are slightly less totalitarian. Bully for us!

With the few internet "security" bills floating around Congress, I'm sure we'll be caught up in no time.

Jpete, c'mon; you think there's some comparison to North Korea and here? I have to tell you how it's different? Watch a couple episodes of Locked Up Abroad why don't ya.

We have indefinite detention here too. What's the difference?

We don't see it because we generally play by the rules. Step over the line and see how fast the USA starts looking like North Korea to you.

Most of the world around you is unconstitutional but we mostly don't notice because we mold our behavior to stay inside the lines.

I'm no different, I just have no illusions that I'm "free".

But you are free, man. you can go anywhere you want. You can leave the country. You can seek employment of your choice. You can buy whatever food your heart desires. You can vote for Ron Paul if you want to.

Man, I thought I was cynical.

Yeah, things are going downhill; if you eventually have to make your stand to live free or die it's gonna be your choice.

Count your freedoms and you might realize you still have more than a lot of other people in the world.

I could leave the country, but I can't get back without government permission. And if I did leave, the government would make sure I wasn't carrying things like large amounts of money with me. If I am, they'll take it from me.

I can seek employment, but in many cases, especially the HVAC field I'm going into, I'll need government permission to do so. If I want to start my own business, I'll also need government sanction.

I can buy any food I want so long as government programs haven't put the cost out of my reach. In some cases, it would be illegal for me to produce my own.

And lets not forget that as long as we pay income and property tax, the government owns us. Why do you think rich people don't do it? ;)

OK man, no hard feelings, I can't convince you to have a better attitude.
You're embracing a defeatist mentality; maybe it makes you feel better.

I feel sorry for your kids if you're teaching them that all is lost, there's no use in trying.

What , do you think life is supposed to be perfect? Maybe you're an anarchist, I don't know. Anarchy is actually a great idea, but it would require all citizens to have morals and principles and total honesty and integrity.

You think the patriots that gained independance from King George just sat around saying there's no hope?

Once again, is it so impossible to count your blessings :?:

There are too many rules and restrictions coming along we all agree on that; but there has to be some rules and passports, licences, building codes etc.

I think when you get your HVAC licence, it should be a source of pride and accomplishment, not resentment.

No. There doesn't.

Not from the government anyway. The market can and will take care of things.

The only law you need is the "Natural Law" and the Bill of Rights pretty much covers it.

Don't worry about my attitude. It's merely acceptance of reality.

OK man, I guess you're hanging out today like I am. I made a ceiling repair and then serviced a tractor and a generator. I made a good buck for today.

Reality is subjective. If your reality is that all government is a bad horrible thing, good luck with that.

Do you think you should be able to do 95 in a 25? Do you think that any furnace should be placed on the market, regardless of its design? If any fool could build a house or a bridge however they felt like it, or put up rotten chicken for sale, society as a whole would suffer greatly.

What do you think The Constitution is? It's a set of rules.

Describe this "Natural Law" will ya? What do you think, every tree should be the same height so the bushes can have a fair amount of sunlight.? Nature is a viscious struggle to survive.

Still way better here than in, let's say, Damascus.

Is the guy from Dumb and Dumber another Hollywood liberal douchebag? I bet he lives in the USA. They all make huge fortunes here and then turn around and bash the USA. They had acting talent as children and quickly learned that they were the special center of attention. What a whining bitch.

This country has been ruined by liberals.

"We’re seventh in literacy, 27th in maths, 22nd in science,"

Who has run our education system for the past 40 years. Ask us if we know how to put on a condom or how green we are??

"49th in life expectancy, 178th in infant mortality"

Who has regulated healthcare for the past 70 years. Making it a cottage industry for lawyers and insurance companies raising healthcare costs??

"third in median household income, fourth in labour force and fourth in exports."

Who has backed labor unions that have forced companies into bankruptcy or out of the country through extortion. pay us obscene benefits or we will destroy you??

Natural Law is the one that says you have a right to life, liberty and property. And the ability to defend the same.

You can put up a faulty bridge or a house, but if it falls over and kills someone, expect to see the inside of a prison.

This is my favorite video concerning Natural Law. Turn the sound down though. :)

Sounds like a perfect utopian idea. Speaking of REALITY, that cute little vid doesn't match up with the cold hard reality of the human race. Freakin' Koom Bye Ahhh.

Some people believe that GOD owns their life, not themselves. Those are all great rights, maybe another 100,000 years of human evolution will make it possible.
