You quoted Dann's entire post yet failed to answer any part of it. What's the point? If those are talking points at least answer one of them. You could have repeated the latest Liberal talking point that superman that Obama is, even he could not correct the mess that he inherited.

What a significant post. It seems to say that no matter how the economy declines and how bad a man's record record is, as long as he is a talented demagogue who pushes your emotional buttons, reason and logic are useless. Sadly you are probably right.

I am not here to answer your questions, or to try to educate anyone, my quotes are not liberal talking points, but original jabs at the robotic and consistently repeated catch phrases of half and non truths emanating from the republican party.

Well it appears that Romney paid a tad under $2 million in taxes, and donated a tad over $4 million to charity last year. All of this on $14 million of primarily investment income (which is not wages). So much for not paying taxes for 10 straight years.

How much did Obama donate to charity? Is it time for Obama to unseal his college records, for a little quid pro quo here?

Will the Obama administration and the Democrats apologize? Will Harry Reid resign in disgrace?

Charity donations are voluntary, so who , in their right mind counts that, oops, but I cannot for the life of me figure out why, good republicans totally believe that people who do not have to actually work for their money should pay half as much in fed. taxes, therefore, requiring actual workers to shoulder the difference in money that is not collected by the gov. Bringing up charitable donations in the subject just provides more devastating proof of the lack of brain cell activity among republican supporters. Lick their boots if you love to, but do not include me in that . Republicans are bad for the country, Democrats are Good for the country, but since we live in an imperfect world, the better half are stuck with ya's like the plague and poverty.

The 15% long term capital gains rate of taxation on $14 million is $2.1 million, so when his charitable contributions are factored in he actually paid far more than his "fair share" of taxes. With that much in charitable contribution deductions his taxes probably could have legally been zero.

Why do you evade and deflect? You show yourself to be an Alinskyite.

Mitt Romney works very hard at, and is very good at tax avoidance. He pays less than half the tax rate of the average millionaire. you think that if you elect him, he will show you all , 1, how to become a billionaire, and 2, how to pay 1/3 of the tax rate that lowly working Americans pay.. happy dreams, average, middle class, coal burning, working class. elect republicans, at your own peril, they do not even try to hide their sly self serving intentions, but instead depend on fancy words relayed by their news media, pep rallies, out right bold faced lies, and,, the gullibility and stupidity of their supporters. Romney took less deductions to simply be able to say his tax rate is more than 14%, 14.1% actually, but his real tax rate, if he took all his deductions is more like 12%, and he can claim those deductions until next year.you, workers of America, can pay 38%. suckers.

Romney is unemployed, so he has no wages to be taxed at the wage rate. Obama only paid 20% and he actually has real "wage income" from both his books and his current job. And he is a millionaire. Why didn't Obama pay 1/3 or more of his wages to his government?

What is the difference between a democrat and a republican using allowable (I.E. legal) means whereby to reduce their tax burden? Is it OK for one group but not the other?

Wow! Just skimmed the 2011 return. If that's not an argument for simplifying the tax code, I don't know what is.

One thing jumped out, right at the beginning: The return is dated 5 days ago. It's not surprising with something so complex that Price Waterhouse couldn't complete it by April 15. But 5 days ago? If one were in a suspicious frame of mind -- nobody on THIS forum, to be sure :P -- one might wonder what "adjustments" had been made prior to the filing to make it politically palatable. And if he changes his mind, for example doesn't get elected and says "political palatability be damned", he can just file an amended return any time within the next three years and get those taxes back.

Lots of people file for extensions, and it is legal!

Of course it's legal, so is filing amended returns. If I were running for president and being urged to come clean, I'd file a good-looking return now by skipping some deductions (that's another thing that jumped out) so my tax rate came out higher. Then next year, win or lose, I'd file the amended return to take advantage of the loopholes and get back a few million. Not that I am for a minute suggesting that Willard might engage in such shenanigans! :|

The accountants say you can't see the tax pattern from one year's return, and what could really open people's eyes is returns for the Bain Capital years, with details on how he amassed an IRA of perhaps one hundred million dollars. :?:

Didn't Romney make the statement that if he paid more tax than he legally had to then he didn't deserve to be President? Then he turns around & does it on purpose just to make it look better.

When did this country grow to hate success?

All this envy over how much he made. Who cares?

I don't like Mitt as much as the next guy. But it has nothing to do with how much money he made. I hope to do it myself some day. :)
