Is a chimney liner a good idea?

Our house is 2 stories tall plus attic which gives me a 24 foot tall stack. The chimney is 8" ID SS, installed for the wood stove in 1998.

As you can see by my stove pic there is one 90 degree elbow outdoors after the wall thimble.

The stove has a 6" exhaust. Does a 6" liner turn in an 8" el and hook up to the 6" stove vent?

I am not very familiar with liners, just want to save the overly expensive SS chimney.

There are 6" to 8" adapters, what is it that you are wanting to do.

What I want to do is to install a SS liner to save the existing 8" ss chimney.

Your only going to get maybe five years out of the ss liner. Mine started to pin hole at the bottom three feet after only two seasons. But mine was used with wood for four before I burned coal.

I would use the chimney you have as is. There is sense in installing a SS liner inside of a SS chimney. As I'm sure you know, a masonry chimney is always best (for coal) but you work with what you have.
