I think Scott said yesterday that he got a quote, and he's north of Albany, NY. Maybe there are some specific states/areas to which John will deliver?

I have to wait until it is cool enough to light the stove. I generally start around the last of September up here. I am as anxious as I can be to see how well this coal works. Base Burners have remarkable digestions, which is a good thing.

I've loaded my VF3000 this morning with the coal from Newport. I'll give you an update once nice amount of ash accumulates. Right now still burning up remains of old rice.

I got a sample today and it is burning now. My initial impression is that it isn't going to do well under heavy load. The coal is very dull in appearance compared to the very good coal I have been burning. It is defintely softer and is very dusty, much more so than UAE which isn't washed either. I tried to get pictures but i couldn't do real justice to the difference. It looks like a ton of coal I had 2 years ago and it fought me with clinkers and very sticky fly ash till it was gone. However that coal I had 2 years ago did burn very hot, but it caused so much more maint. on the boiler that it wasn't worth the trouble. I do wish John well however I think it is going to only work well with certain applications.

Ok.
After a 24 hours of burning the new coal, I had to increase the feed rate. It definetly creates larger ash clinkers than my old coal. I'll have to wait until colder weather to really test it. As I increase feed rate ash is being pushed much quicker and I don't see that much of an issue. Problem is more obvious during off season times, as I use my boiler all year for domestic hot water.
Well, I usually don't complain about small issues, and this so far is just a tiny spec on my list of the problems that I deal in my life. For the price I paid I think I can deal with it. Then again, ask me after a full year of burning it and I'll have a more definite answer.
