Walking the Walk

Dann, whats your problem with where I live or what I have (which ain't much but all I need) I worked & earned every dollar that I needed to get & keep what I have. Maybe if you stay off of here & work harder for all your rich folks you too can some day retire. Funny how I don't really feel all that much of a successful easy living retiree but with you being so much smarter than I you have to be right, I think I'll run out & buy something I want even if I don't need it, I'm rich, I'm rich but still not enough to be a republican. :D

CK, the question is was there any law on the books that said what they did was illegal? I would think & hope there was but it wouldn't surprise me at all, unethical for sure but there is no penalty for that that I know of except for loss of business which sure isn't happening. Can't put any regulations against the banking industry or for that matter any industry, manufacturer or business of any kind they would never do anything to harm the average man or woman now would they, certainly never put profit above all. ;)

I'm trying to say I admire it; good for you. You would rather hate the phantom rich than show some gratitude that's all. You want to keep what you have, that's OK; but you demonize successful people for the exact same desire. Liberal logic.

I just got back from a masonry repair dude. Heavy rain is moving in so I won't be housepainting today. I'm sore from working my own business I built. I'm working to capacity so don't tell me about hard work.

Try and figure out why you hate "rich folks", the answer is buried deep in your psyche. It will take a lot of courage to face it.

I know a farmer that is in his 70's, Army veteran, successful businessman, town official, conservative. Oh, yeah, he's rich. He has common sense enough to know liberalism is wrecking our country. He keeps working because he's driven to it, loves hard work. It gives meaning to life.

His friend is an attorney, in his upper 70's, same thing, he keeps working because he loves it.

Take your own advice, you're here more than anybody :D

I have never said I hate the rich, have many rich friends a few of which would be considered really rich. It's the breaks that they get & paid for that I don't agree with. It may be just me but I think somewhere amongst all those rights & stuff there is or should be something about fairness & not being above the law which should be fair & equal & pertain to everyone like no one should be above the law, just a little quirk I have, I pay my own way & my fair share & think everybody should then who knows if it were that way all along maybe my share would be a little less.

And this is the crux of the issue.

How does one legislate "fair"?

If you don't treat me like you treat someone else, can I sue you because you aren't "fair"?

You seem to be hung up on sueing or putting people behind bars Jpete. Fairness is equal, if you have equality for all then you have fairness.

So other than having a government where justice is allegedly blind, how do you codify "fairness".

You are the one that said

It may be just me but I think somewhere amongst all those rights & stuff there is or should be something about fairness

I'm just wondering what that would look like. How do you define "fair" in a legal sense? And what do you do if I don't act in that manner?

Is that a fact? And they're still your friends with your attitude? I live in the 5th wealthiest county in the United States, out of over 3000. You're full of it.

At around 120% debt to GDP we're still "wealthy"?

What does living in the fifth richest county have anything to do with anything? Are you bragging or complaining? Unlike you Dann, I get along well with most people, maybe because I don't let wealth, color, sex, religion country of origin or any other thing influence me, guess I should add political affiliation as well.

If that's the case, why are you calling for more regulation?

Doesn't sound particularly "fair" to me.

Who got hurt during the downturn Jpete? Without some regulation the bankers will do it all over again & they all already testing the waters. The rich will only get richer at others expense.
