Ryan is a flipper, Flop- per, just like his hopeful boss. First, he was a devoted fan of a Russian Atheist, but now says later in life, not so much fan anymore. cannot imagine what the dannatics would say if prez. O was such a long time devotee. reverend wright bring back memories of the lunacy??

A Russian who's family lived through terrible hardship (OK, hell) under the Communists, lost their business to the Soviet takeover (the village), and saw a hell that you wish upon all of us. A woman who bravely escaped from the Soviet Union to come and America to live the American dream and write books about what would become of America if it traveled down a similar path as did Russia. The very path that you want us to take. Somehow you forgot that part. Are you an atheist homecomfort? And regardless of if you are or are not, does that somehow disqualify someone from being an American and living the American dream? A dream that Obama clearly does not share.

That woman is Ayn Rand (the woman whom I often quote here). Did I mention that her family suffered under the Soviets more severely than most for two cruel reasons. One, they were land owners and business owners. Two, her real name is Alisa Rosenbaum. Yes, her family (and therefore she) was Jewish.

Nice twist , he clearly stated that her Atheism is something doesn't agree with ( never has never will) but it doesn't detract from his agreeing with her ideas on freedom and free markets.

Funny you should mention the terrible hardships in Mother Russia Isayre, my family owned a grocery store in Homestead, Pa., he was severely beaten by Pinkerton's & police back during the Homestead Steel Strike (his crime was giving food to strikers on the tab). Then a decade or two later his store was taken by USS & the Gov. under eminent domain so they could expand the mill, right here in this country. It happened everywhere, we were not immune that's the way it was.

So lets get this straight. Per homecomfort there is complete equivalence between reverence to the writings of a woman who escaped from Soviet Russia to warn us of what is in store for us if we follow a similar path (Ayn Rand), and a man of God who damns America in God's name and dreams of following the path to totalitarianism.

Ryan's reverence of Ayn Rand = Obama's reverence of Reverend Wright

And therefore those who criticize Obama for Reverend Wright must also equally criticize Ryan for Ayn Rand. This serious "flaw" in Ryans character (per homecomfort) balances the slate completely and negates the Reverend Wright issue totally.

Twisted is right!

Did I mention that while Ayn Rand was alive (she was born in 1905 and passed away in 1982) she always voted Democrat. And now the Democrats have morphed to where she is one of their most hated and despised souls.

PS: She escaped from the Soviet Union and arrived in the USA in 1926. Her first job here was as a playwright for the famous movie producer Cecil B Demille, and she even made a cameo appearance in his epic movie "King of Kings" (for which she helped to write the script).

Neither did Rand. I suggest you read your own references.

I've seen photographs of Presidents smiling and shaking hands with criminals. Does that make them evil?

For decades on end the essential method of destroying the words written by Ayn Rand has been to attempt to destroy the character and being of Ayn Rand herself. It's a classic example of the mantra that if you can't kill the message, you must kill the messenger.

She was merely a human, and she had many human frailties, as do all of us. She was a 22 or at most 23 year old thinking of writing a novel (which was never written) and she made this single entry to herself in her personal notebook (journal) regarding a character in the book who was to be:

“a Hickman with a purpose. And without the degeneracy. It is more exact to say that the model is not Hickman, but what Hickman suggested to me.”

This contents of this journal (notebook) were published by the "Ayn Rand Institute" post her passing in 1982. This was not uncovered mysteriously. At that young age she was merely a playwright, and she was steeped in the philosophy of Nietzsche (whom she later abandoned and rejected), and she had not yet formulated her famous philosophy of "Objectivism". No one knows what part this character in her never written novel might have represented or stood for, but we do know from what she wrote to herself that he was clearly "NOT" going to be the degenerate that Hickman was.

Should all of her subsequent great thought and writings be negated by this?

Do you Democratic Ayn Rand despiser's vehemently reject and oppose Bill Clinton and all that he stood for and accomplished due to what he did to and with a young and deceived Moncia Lewisnki? Thinking about a character for a book is far more mundane than sexually abusing a young Whitehouse intern with a cigar, no?

I think even those who disagreed with her (at least those with a mind) would agree that she was a brilliant original thinker. Her style was too abrasive for those who preferred to live in fantasy land.

Mention of Nietzsche reminded me of one quote of his that I did like though i do think his reasoning flawed.

"It's hard enough for me to remember my opinions without also having to remember why I have them."

I think we all do that. We tend to form opinions on what we hear or read, or from life experience and tend to forget the details.

Lie'n Ryan was asked by a reporter about Obama stimulus funds. he says they do not work. But then 4 letters of request were found asking for stimulus money to energy sec. Chu, with ryan's signature on them, oh yeh, I forgot those were constituents requests as he tries to wiggle and lie his way out. One, of many more lies told, and to be told. This ticket is even worse than McCain-palin, and that was pretty pathetic.( at least Senator McCain is honorable) you republicans are willing to be lied to, hood winked and deceived. financially well off republicans benefit by paying even less income tax under R-R plans, and middle class will pay more. so if you are rich, good for you, pay your fair percentage,( I would), if you are middle class, or less, Smile , your pockets are being picked, and brains being sanitized of common sense. now go ahead, start cry'n, cause ly'n ryan is fly'n to your town, to sell you his b.s, which some of you are buy'n.
