Progressive Insurance SUCKS!! If you have it, DROP THEM NOW!

I'm no stranger to shady business practices by insurance companies ... but this is just off the chart WRONG.

I've been in a few body shops in the area, and they all have signs posted that read: "IF YOU HAVE PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE, DO NOT ASK US TO FIX YOUR CAR."

I always wondered why. Now I know ....

That's about as low as it gets. I wonder how many people will be dropping Progressive as a result of this? I wonder if this is the new norm, and if other insurance companies would do likewise? I feel that just as for banks, many insurance companies are technically bankrupt at present.

I don't have Progressive, but my rates went WAY up this year. Not just because of surcharges (from tickets) either - they would've went up anyway, although not quite as much had it not been for speed limits. Went up over 30% ... and my health insurance went up 70% ... but I digress ...

Believe me on this one & I know you won't but I'll state it anyway, I think crap like Progressive pulled is one of the major problems this country has. After having said that, isn't that the very thing cons want, to allow free enterprise to run free & do what they do best, make money. Regardless of political view, read the part about Maryland Law, & it also doesn't say anything about the amount of settlement. Why are there non & under insured drivers sharing the road? Is it their right, should have Progressive informed that they don't have to cover things in all states? Sure but does any other tell you everything that they won't cover or how they will weasel out of paying, you never really find out until afterwards. There is the old adage you get what you pay for, there seem to be more companies that will pay more fighting a claim than what it would cost to pay, it ain't a right or left thing, it's unbridled business practices & too damn many lawyers. What should be black & white is turned into grey & it's all done on purpose.

Nobody is forced to use Progressive. I know a citizen that uses Liberty Mutual and she is satisfied with them.
On the other hand, the American people have been forced to buy a product now, Obamatax. Unconstitutional but that doesn't stop Obama and the dems now does it? Tell my why they exempted the muzzies, the illegals, the unions, and their RICH lefty friends from the Obamacare.

The progressives demand that nobody be excluded from government intervention in free enterprise. Of course there should be some regulation, but not to the extent that nobody can be denied from any claim.

Sam...I'm quoting your post because you brought up the political aspect of it, but it applies both ways. This is another example of how there is really no difference on either side of the Dem / Rep aisle. MD has been a Dem controlled state legislature for decades, so if the Dem's really want to reign in "free enterprise at all cost", MD law would be different. But they are also in the pocket of large special interests like the insurance industry. The latest example is the special session now going on to push through casino friendly (tax break) legislation by the Dem Gov & legislation. Just to be clear, the Repub's are no better, most posts here seem to be stuck on the us vs. them mentality when there is really no practical difference between "us vs. them".

Titleist, I wasn't the one that brought up politics just threw that in to reply to the one that did. Like I said there are reasons for much of the restrictions that we have today & some don't have enough. Taking away or not having any restrictions are part of the problem that caused this mess along with two totally unfunded wars, no bid contracts & a scrip drug plan that was also super expensive but unfunded, that & TARP which didn't even have payback provisions & then you can now say with a straight face that it's gonna work this time. Sure it will work if you want total collapse of the country. My whole point in that post was that crap like what Progressive pulled is part of the American way, it has always been like that until it gets stopped. Dann, just how did the Federal Government play a roll in this case? Not who is what or anything else just in the case as first posted.

I rate insurance companies the way I rate financial institutions, lawyers the US Government and taxes.

They are a bunch of *censored* who take and take and take and take and take and never contribute a *censored* thing to anyone.

As it stands, I've had good luck with Geico insurance. Though, I've never once needed to put a claim in for anything with them. I think it should be policy that if you don't put a claim in they should cut you a check every year for your policy. But, they don't. The money you pay them just disappears. I've often wondered, where does it go? Their pockets I presume. I completely understand, they are a business and that business needs to make money to pay their employees. But they just screw everyone.

Right you are on that, when you think about it one of the first things they ask if you buy a new car is what did you pay. If you say like $25K then they are selling you a policy on that figure even if as you drive it home it devalues, now after paying five years you total that car if you are lucky you may get blue book value, most times you don't but you have been paying five years of premiums on a $25K Ins. policy.

I apologize for trying to illuminate the idiotic argument that there is a difference between the D's & R's. Please continue on with the circle jerk while electing the same old shade of gray into office from either side of the aisle. I will return to my self imposed exile from political discussion.
