Used Keystoker Koker what to look for

Used Keystoker Koker what to look for

PostBy: Ian121 On: Wed Aug 22, 2012 4:44 pm

Hi all,

I was going to take a look at a used keystoker koker stove. The stove is 6 yrs old and the current owner says they are getting rid of it since they bought it with the house and have no interest in burning it. They are asking $1800. I was hoping someone could tell me what are some things to check when considering a used stove. Also is that a fair price?

Thanks in advance for the info

Ian

Welcome to the forum :)

Plenty members here burn Kokers, I'll leave them to reply to your questions.

What is your current heating source and system?

Koker is a good sized stove...160K btu/hr. Maybe a hot air furnace or a hot water boiler would serve you better??

Do it the last way first. ;)

Hi, I have a 80000 btu propane forced air furnace and a woodstove on the first floor. I was looking at getting the koker and tying it into the existing ductwork. My house is an older 2 story +- 1500 sq ft. I would like to get a furnace but would like to stay under $2000 so I figured the Koker would work and I could just burn it low.

I have a koker and have been heating 2000 sf for 5 years now.

Look for rust rust rust!

Check the back of it, pull the pusher bar out and check for any overheating or fires back into the hopper.

also look for a rotting hopper....

many things....I have been 100% happy with mine but only because I keep it clean and maintained.
