Tips & tricks for cleaning rain gutters

PostBy: Joeski On: Thu Aug 23, 2012 11:14 pm

Hi all,

Thank you in advance for your replies. I want to clean my rain gutters twice a year from now on. Do you have a nifty way of doing it? What I have done so far is below.

1.) I get my Karcher power washer (electric) and I got an attachment that goes in from the bottom up about 20 feet I think. It has 4 jets blasting the in side pretty well.

2.) I get a ladder and climb up to the first floor gutters and use my normal wands to shoot out as much as I can.

3.) How is the best way of getting to the roof top gutters some being 30 to 40 ft above me?

4.) I do have screens covering most of the gutters except for the corners. I will be fixing them this fall for sure.

Thank you.

Leaf blower here also, but I am only working on a ranch house and can get on the roof with a 6' step ladder. I am not dealing with the height you are.

My roof edge is about 30 ft off the ground. When I have new
shingles put on about 10 years ago, I had them remove the gutters.
Best thing I ever did. Not more clogs, no more frozen gutters,
and no more ice dams.

Tsp, that's the way Frank Lloyd Wright liked to do it as well only problem is unless you do something to remedy the situation or have the ideal setting all that water ends up laying up against your foundation, that's why a lot of his places have foundation problems.

The foundation goes all the way to bedrock. Any extra
water drains into the creek.

I get my little 6' ladder out and I set it up on my deck and I climb up it and use my hands.

I've no need for fancy machines. Mainly because my gutters are only 8' from the ground.
