Acorn Stove From Rathbone, Sard and Co.

PostBy: mamacro On: Sat Aug 25, 2012 12:56 am

hi i'm not sure i'm in the right place, also this is the first forum i've "virtually" been apart of. i bought a house and there was an old stove/oven/range in the basement. i believe it is 1910s-1920s. it says acorn and is from rathbone, sard and co. i can't find much info about it online. all the ones i see are smaller or have less attached. i'm sorry to take up anyones time, but i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. my husband is trying/wanting to restore it.

I need a better description of the model. A good photo or two will work wonders.

Hi Mamacro,

If you are still around, I would love to see a photo. We also have an Acorn Stove from Rathboone, Sard and Co. I have posted photos of our's not fully restored in this forum. I am sure if you searched the name you came across our stove. When it is restored, I will post more, however that will not be until next year when we have it re-nickel plated. We will be burning it through this winter and using it in the mean time. Our is a very large model also, it stands taller than I do with it's finial.

I also have a stove by R,S and Co. It is a small wood burner, missing the top plate, which is designed to swing out, like the cover on a round stove. I say it is a wood burner since I see no grates, nor any place to put them, although there are some small tabs inside, I assume to hold a wood grate, or maybe a baffle. Anyway, I am searching for info, and will post a pic asap. Happy holidays to all, whatever you celebrate!
