Another American hero passes, Neil Armstrong the first man to step on the moon, one really has to wonder if he honestly thought he would make it there yet alone back. A tribute to American know how.

Yep, "one small step for man--one giant leap for mankind". He surely left his mark.

on the 20th aniversary of the walk, the press went to his home to interview him, but he was to busy sealing his drive way to be bothered

I'm too young, but anyone remember seeing the landing on their black and white?

What amazes me is that Neil Armstrong never commercialized or boasted upon his truly great achievement.

Sure did, on a real made-in-the-USA Zenith B&W. Hooked to an antenna mounted on a tower place on top of the porch roof and extending ~15' over the peak of the attic. About a 4 story reach and we got three channels; 3, 6 and 10. Somebody else was going up that tower if the rotator motor came unplugged - not me

I still have my Saturn IV 125th scale Estes rocket too :) They were inspirational times. Too bad the congress and BO have essentially killed man space flight.

Sad to see Neil Armstrong pass on. He was a quiet hero. Yup, I saw the moon landing on TV. Exciting times.

Oh Wow, I forgot about those!

I still remember everyone being so excited, then the ticker-tape parades. The shuttle became rountine after so long that kids didn't even pay attention anymore.
