Stove pipe connection, which way?

I recently traded in my rear vent Chubby stove for a top vent. I now have an oval to round adapter which has a female end that connects to the stove and a crimped male end that connects to my flue pipe. The problem I am running into is my support box in the ceiling is a male connection and the stove adapter is a male connection, so how do I connect the two? I've done extensive research and found mixed reviews about which direction to hook up single wall interior stove pipe. My old setup was installed with the female end up and the crimped male end down, but this won't work with my new stove setup. My old stove had a female connection on it so running the stove pipe with all crimped male connections down was not a problem. Do they make black stove pipe with 2 female ends...would this be an option? I contacted Larry Trainer and he told me when connecting flue pipe to an anthracite stove all crimped male ends should head towards the ceiling. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Larry is right, the crimped ends should point towards the chimney. Get yourself a set of crimping pliers and fabricate pieces of pipe as necessary.

Thanks for the advice. The problem I am running into is on my support box in the ceiling. That should be a female connector but it is in fact a male connector. So how would I get a crimped male pipe end to mate with a male connection on my support box?

It isn't mandatory that all the crimps face the same way, you can "cheat" a little. The reason it is suggested that the crimps face the chimney is to prevent gasses/fly ash from sneaking through the pipe joints...mainly during a puff back. If you seal the joints with furnace cement or high-temperature metal tape it becomes a non-issue.

Oh, well then I've been doing it wrong. All of my crimped ends point towards the stove. I don't even know if the female end would fit over the outlet on the DS. Last time I tried to put a cap on it the cap had to go on the inside of it. And the new throat plate I had made up also has it so the pipe fits over the collar from the female side.

With my hand fired my crimped ends are always down as they were with my wood stoves--I suppose it's more preference then anything else--old school is male always toward the stove---YES, they do make a, I believe 4" long crimped at both ends--they used to have them at TSC--anywhere that handles black pipe should have them

I'm thinking about cutting the crimped end off one of my pipes, since I need to trim them down anyway due to the new setup. Presto...a pipe with 2 female ends!
