ok, have one room that i want to have temperature controlled by outside temp, and temp selected for the room. what components, will do this inexspensively, yet be reliable. Why you ask? theres a person that doen't like a nice mid 70's as temp, always pushes wal thermostst to max and leaves it there. consuming great amounts of fuel to maintain.

any help wouldd be appreciated. TY.

Make the original t'stat a "dummy" or "decoy"

And re-wire up a new "hidden" working t'stat unknown to the offender. :shh:

well i have that room wired into main area downstairs., keep it at 73* in winter, heat goes up, therefore i assume that area is a bit warmer than downstairs area. Need better solution.

Well, then,
Zoning w/ zone controls tailored to suit needs.

Why do you want outside temps to be a part of the solution?...That will make the solution crazy expensive. :?

To be clear, what is wanted...Keep downstairs @ mid 70's and still allow room above to be several degrees higher...correct?

You could always put the stat in a clear lock box, or add a sensor in this room with the stat locked in the closet or wherever you'd like.
