That's it exactly, but not just in politics. It's everywhere and no effort is made to understand. The belief system (I can't call it a science) of psychology pretends to explain but in reality just labels types of behavior as if naming or codifying something equals understanding. It does just the opposite because it discourages going back to the roots of things, the first causes, and building from there. Instead they give us brilliant insights like the Oedipus Complex. Better they should call themselves the *censored* society.

It's no secret that you are frustrated with the government of Mass. and that there are people throughout the country who feel the same way. Obviously something is very wrong in the way our government has evolved that is so hostile to the basic emotional needs of those it governs. The very strong opposition to any gun control seems to me to go beyond the rational arguments of both sides of the question; that it is in reality a last ditch emotional defense against the bastards who would deny us the freedom to be human beings.

The bigger question is what causes human beings to adhere to positions that are so demonstrably false. Why do reason and logic go right out the window.
