Question on a oil bioler

Background. The boiler is a buderus G205, oil burner.
Went to father in-laws house to test fire the boiler, checking for issues before the heating season. A problem I did find. Long story short, I have line power going into the (White Rodgers 8B48A) high limit switch, (looks like an aqua-stat to me) but no power coming out to burner. The water is cold and should be calling for heat. Before I just ordered the new switch, any other guess's? Power comes from emergency switch, to the limit switch, from there to burner and circ pump.

Try shorting the TT terminals on the aquastat and see if it fires.

Good call, I didn't do that. I was thinking the cold temp would automatically put power to the burner. But would be a quick test on it.

Yes, my son has the same boiler. His fires only on demand. The water almost never reaches what I'd consider normal operating temperature. His radiators get warm and then the system shuts down as the thermostat is satisfied. Seems weird to me but I'm used to trying to maintain a boiler temperature. Have to ask the Germans where it was built.
