It's the first on in Chicago in 25 years. That makes it slightly unusual, no?

The last one in RI ended with teachers getting sent to prison back around 1991.

Like I had said I don't know what the laws are there or what was being asked for or from either side, longer hours were one thing & as I understand it something about testing as well. There are always more than one side except here if you don't like one side then there is only one, the my way or the highway mentality.

Rahmbo got up on a podium with a bunch of disenfranchised minorities and proclaimed he would not enforce existing immigration laws. In the meantime, he was sweeping any mention of the out of control Chicago gang violence and death rate under his red liberal rug.

I don't know much about the situation either, except it's absurd that a teacher's union could have so much power as to prevent incompetant teachers from being fired. Some people want merit based teaching, great idea. What's the difference anyway, with the 14th the cultural demographics of this country is being changed so rapidly you won't even hear english spoken in 20 years.

Nothing unusual about that when you consider the average salary is $76K.

It's unusual when a democrat mayor doesn't roll over and give them everything they want, taxpayers be damned.

May it's because the past 25 years have finally caught up to Chicago and they chased out enough of those evil rich people so they can't afford their public sector anymore? ;)

Yes at 76K it has caught up to them. Did I mention the 76K in this topic enough? I think I need to keep mentioning the 76K so people don't forget that we're talking about teachers that are making 76K. That 76K includes benefits and is an average of 76K. There is people making a lot more than 76K and less than 76K. I'd imagine with the increase the salary will go from 76K to 95K :P

There are private Christian school teachers in these parts who are making on the order of $15K (give or take), and who are graduating students who are far better educated on average than the ones the $76K teachers are churning out. Anyone who says it takes $76K to educate students is crazy. They should have fired the teachers and their union, and started over.
