So how do teachers grade themselves?

So how do teachers grade themselves?

While reading some articles on the Chicago strike I came across this bit of information, its a bit dated from 2004:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/200 ... 847-5968r/

In Philadelphia, 44 percent of the teachers put their children in private schools; in Cincinnati, 41 percent; Chicago, 39 percent; Rochester, N.Y., 38 percent. The same trends showed up in the San Francisco-Oakland area, where 34 percent of public school teachers chose private schools for their children; 33 percent in New York City and New Jersey suburbs; and 29 percent in Milwaukee and New Orleans.

Nationwide it's 20 percent or double the national average for other parents.

I wonder if there is a breakdown between urban & rural areas but then again once I gave it some thought there aren't any private schools in my neck of the woods so never mind about that one.

The national Average is 20 percent and again that is double the national average. It has the suburbs listed at 33 percent in NJ and NYC, looks like the big cities are high thirties into the forties.

Nearly half the teachers in Philly put their kids in private school?

It can also be the smarter, better teachers grading the whole school administration where the climate for learning which administration is responsible for is so bad.

I'd have to agree, you can't blame all the troubles of the schools on the teachers. You have administrative issues and more importantly home issues particualrly in the inner cities.

Having said that the national average for teachers kids in private schools is still double that of the general population. That is probably the most important statistic here.

They probably don't want their kids getting shot. Can't blame them there. And there isn't anything even the best teacher can do about it.

That wouldn't explain the national average being so much higher.

Not only does it make a point about what teachers think about the system they work in,it also tells you they are overpaid if they can afford for their kids to go to a private school. :(
