Citizen spies thanks to a new cellphone app! Part of the ever expanding DHS's "See something, Say something program". What;s that about the USA being free?

Come on guys, this is an individual problem, not a govt problem. Just because an app is available, dont mean people are mandated to use it. The sheeple are the one's that will use this because it's easier then making the phone call they do now anyway. " INDIVIDUAL CHOICE"

But as time goes on and spying becomes easier and easier, and privacy is evident to a lesser and lesser degree, the 4th Amendment becomes more and more irrelevant and useless. Is it not the direct responsibility of our Government to uphold the Constitution and protect the 4th Amendment (as part of it), rather than actively promoting its demise by such means as offering and promoting spying apps to the general populace?

Still Larry, it would be that portion of the general populace's choice as wether to use or not use.

Agreed, but in this day and age of government dependence you can bet that plenty of wackos from both the left and the right will be using the devices. It will probably become a sport akin to witch hunting.

I've seen all kinds of things right here in town. On the same day that crazy Paki tried to blow up Times Square; I saw a bunch of women with head scarfs in a back yard. :D I guess there's no law against that but it creeped me out. NJ is one of the most diverse states right next to NYC and all.

Ya gotta temper the Alex Jones with a grain of salt. What the heck are any of us common coal burning self-reliant guys gonna do?
There's no shortage of crazy rhetoric out there, the time to really worry is when you get up in the morning to post and the internet's been removed, the cable's gone, your cell phone doesn't work....

Maybe I better catch up on Doomsday Preppers tv. :D

Citizen spies are as American as apple pie.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_ ... ive_League

The American Protective League was an American organization of private citizens that worked with Federal law enforcement agencies during the World War I era to identify suspected German sympathizers and to counteract the activities of radicals, anarchists, anti-war activists, and left-wing labor and political organizations.

Some of the facts are being misquoted or not understood. First it's not a DHS created application. It's an application created by the Delaware state police. It's only new, because it runs on a Apple phone or tablet. The same information could be submitted via the Delaware state police web site; up and running for years. Delaware like many states have security concerns of all kinds. There aren't enough cops to see what's suspicious. Think of this as an extension of your local community watch program. Instead of a 911 phone call it's citizen communicated via the web site or the tablet application. Delaware is a small state but is a major funnel point for much of the east coast north-south road traffic. It also has major, really major chemical and oil production facilities. All a major target for those wanting to do harm.

Don't you want to police to use all extended ears and eyes they can? There is vetting of the information they get. I'm sure some of is bogus information, not much different than the Jay Leno show 911 callers. And yes, the vetted ones with national security implications, do get passed on to DHS and the database that gets shared by other nearby states. Would not want that?

Tools for good can easily and rapidly become tools for evil.

The ultimate tool (for which the technology currently exists) so we can all be tracked and monitored properly for our own protection might just be the V-Chip. I worked with a guy who said he didn't mind the idea since he and his family had nothing to hide. Each new idea seems to take us one step closer to this level of solution. How far we will or should go down this path as a nation or as individuals is the question.

Well lets just all go back to using land line phones & having to say hello & start talking to find out who called, much less evasive & sinister no one is putting a gun to your head & forcing you to carry an I phone/spy machine.

Geez Sam, you should have been around in Germany back in the 30's.

You could have told all the Jews to just decide to ignore the government.

Life behind the Iron Curtain would have been so much better if they all just followed your advise and became Amish.

I'm sure the Stazi would have dried up and blown away if no one paid any attention to them.

Don't you mean invasive?

Don't they automatically know who called and where you were if you use an Iphone? GPs, caller I.D. and all?

What if the big O gets re-elected? I'll get a phone call:
"Have you ever spoken out against emperor for life Soetoro?"

" Why no,no of course not."

" Did you ever have the moniker Dann757?"

" Uhhh uhhh, I never heard of that..."

"LIAR! Give him a fate worse than death! Deport him to Mexico!" :D
