AA130 Departure

AA130 Departure

PostBy: Flyer5 On: Sat Sep 22, 2012 12:45 pm

My AA130 just left my driveway. I honestly feel a little depressed. I love our WL 110 boiler but I have to be honest its too quiet . The AA130 had a sort of personality with the coal clanking in the auger the loud blower. When my coal bin got low I would know it even in the middle of the night it would wake me up if I heard only the blower and no coal in the auger. :(

I may have to get a recording of a AA and have it setup to play when the new boiler runs. LOL

Like saying goodbye to an old friend.

Do you have the 110 setup as a stand-alone boiler? Or is it tied into an oil unit?

Stand alone? I have a good source for spare parts. :D Actually I have some electric heat in my house it is never used but it is there if we go away for extended time. Dave

It has been adopted by a new owner......and will give them years of obedient service. Tough as nails....carbide nails. I do really look forward to the gentle sound of the coal auguring up the tube. Priceless, and coast effective heating.
...now for the new guy: virtually silent and bulletproof still. Hand built in PA.......and so on!  :!:

Perhaps you can get an AA auger and tie it into a relay so when the LL runs, so does the AA auger ???

Constant loop recording again tied into the feed cycle ???

There definitely is some comfort in hearing that tinkling sound for sure. !!!!!

So you had to say good bye to the ol' AA. That's a hard thing to do. It's just tricky sometimes to step into a new phase of life. Hopefully the WL will be as dependable. Best of luck!

I am sure it will be. My wife likes the quietness I guess I like it as well but just different. I was confident on how it will work its a good design Matt did a great job laying out the design and doing the testing. So far no problem keeping up 2700sq/ft and endless hot water. Although the lowest it has been was 35 at night with some wind. But it hardly needed to run. My next project will be an auger feed system.

Rick

I will have to invest in a good sound system and get one of the AA130 owners to send a MP3 of the rattling sound. :D
