What size gasket for Jotul 507 doors?

PostBy: AKShadow On: Fri Sep 28, 2012 10:48 pm

So I'm just about finished with my chimney installation (thanks to everyone for their comments on my last thread about size of chimney connector), now I'm on to the details of the stove. It needs new gaskets all around and I thought I got what would fit but the doors don't want to shut with the new gasket installed. I'm using 3/8" graphite gaskets - they appear to sit nicely in the channels (perhaps a little swollen). What have you used with success in these doors?

Thanks,
Erik

Shoulda read the whole post--is iy just real tight or won't close? I know when I put new gasket in my door it's tighter'n a nuns legs but settles in after some use.

Fred - Won't close, I put the elbow grease on it but couldn't get it. I was about 1/2" away from getting the door handle closed.

I forget who's got the Jotuls, but they'll chime in here. Just for the heck of it--go top right search box & try Jotul 507 door gasket

Seems I used 3/8" but stretched it as I glued to thin it out. It was tight at first but worked in.
