Cleaned glenwood 111

I cleaned my glenwood today and boy am I glad I did before I ran it for another season . I couldn't believe how much ash and pieces of coal where in the nooks and crannies of the stove . All the base heating areas had lots of ash . Anyone with a stove like this should clean it once or twice a year .

I cleaned by Glenwood 9 a month or so ago. It had accumulated a fair amount of ashes down in the bottom. I stuck the shop vac up to the clean out openings and cleaned it thoroughly. I didn't have enough down there to clog it up, but; it would have at sometime through the Winter if I didn't clean it out.

It's the nature of the beast that fly ash will follow the flame path. I did the same as William but duct taped an attachment (for vacuuming inbetween radiators) to the hose of the shop vac and did the kitchen cookstove. It beats the heck out of the creosote I used to have to rake out from under the oven every 2 month when it was a wood burner!

I'd be a rich man sellin it by the gram! Essence of wood smoke.

My vacuum still smells like creosote after cleaning my chimney this summer. I hope that is the last of it.
